Destinations

Taking a voyage by boat is a real adventure.  There are many destinations from which to choose.  There are also many courses you can set to get you to those destinations.  In the course of life, the Bible says that there are only two destinations.  We will either be separated from God or with God for all eternity.

God’s word tells us in Romans 3:23 that we have all sinned.  We are all in the same boat.  Sin puts us on a course headed away from God, in separation from Him.  Romans 6:23 says that the wages of sin is death.  In other words, a price has to be paid for sin.  That price is the destination of eternal separation from God in hell.

The good news is God doesn’t want us to be separated from Him.  He loves us so much that He sent His son, Jesus, to put us on a different course.  That course leads to a destination of eternal life with Him in heaven.  Jesus never sinned. Because He was without sin, God accepted His payment of death on a cross for our sin.  Jesus came back to life, victorious over sin and death.

John 5:24 says if we believe in Jesus we will have eternal life. Jesus is the only way we can get on course into a right relationship with God.  With Him we will arrive at the destination of eternity in heaven.

What is your destination?  Which course are you on?  You can get on course to the destination of heaven by believing in your heart in Jesus and what He has done for you.  Tell Him with sincerity that you realize that He paid the price for your sin in order for you to be in a right relationship with God.  If you do not know what to say to God, here is an example of a prayer:

Dear God, I realize that my sin has caused a broken relationship and separation from you. Thank you for loving me so much that you gave your Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for my sins. Thank you for the forgiveness of sin because of what Jesus did. Thank you for your promise of eternal life with you to all who believe in the name of Jesus. In His name I pray, Amen.

Just as a captain needs a dependable source to navigate his course, we also need a dependable source as we navigate through the course of life.  The Bible is that dependable source.  It is the word of God.  Take time to further explore it and you will discover more about who God is and what His plans are for you.  If you do not know where to start, try reading the book of John in the New Testament to get to know Jesus better and what He has done for you.
