26ft. SAILBOAT DONATED TO FIRST ASSEMBLY
Maritime
Ministries and First Assembly have always been very close ministry
partners in Long Island, and Pastor Jimmy has always believed in the
vision of using boats for mission work among the islands. Recently, he
went to lunch with a couple who had had a MacGregor 26 sailboat moored in
the Stella Maris Marina for some time. He told them of all the work we
were doing in the area of seamanship and sail training, and he asked the
couple if they would be willing to let us use their boat from time to
time. The couple responded by saying, “we would like to donate the boat
to you!”
They normally didn’t travel with the documentation,
but for some strange reason, on this trip, they had. Right there at the
restaurant table they pulled out the papers and signed the boat over to
First Assembly. My dad and I sailed the boat, which is called the “Dancer”,
down from Stella Maris to Salt Pond. We have been working on needed
repairs, and we have used it once for the ladies’ sailing class. We hope
to finish getting it in ship shape and use it for the end-of-year SALT
trip. God is so Good!
