A glance at this year's "way points"
This year has been busy. Here is a glance at some of the
events which have taken place since we published our summer
newsletter.
Maritime Ministries, Bahamas crew has been faithfully
meeting every Friday night to seek God and study together. Also, the
leadership has frequently been meeting at 0500 on Wednesday mornings to
pray for direction.
September 25, The MMB all- islander crew received
direction for and executed their own mercy ministry project. They formed a
team, and did some desperately needed renovation for a sister in need on
the island. This second project was on their own initiative, under their
own direction, and with their own resources.
October 25, Our annual banquet was a great
success with 168 people in attendance. It was good to see so many of our
partners. Sometimes this is the only time we get to meet with many of you.
Thanks for coming.
October 28, Capt. Roy took the first, over-night
discipleship training group out on the "Praise The Lord" sailing
vessel after 2 years of renovation. They were a leadership group from the
Chi Alpha chapter of VCU.
November 7, Reuben led the first of six
construction teams to Long Island, Bahamas to start the next phase of
"The Door to the Nations" Missions Training School. Riverside
Community Church of Peoria, Illinois did a wonderful job getting the
footing dug and forms made for the water cistern. This team also
participated in a mural painting outreach in one of the island's
elementary schools. One of the team members-a veteran missionary of twenty
years--taught night classes at the "Door to the Nations".
November 14, Roy went with the second
construction team--this time from Oak Grove Baptist Church of Richmond.
This team laid out the foundation, installed all the steel reinforcement
rods and cages for the foundation and the cistern. They mixed and poured
the foundation cement as well as the floor of the cistern.. They also
formed the walls for the cistern.
