GOD HITS A HOME RUN!
“Will you be our coach?” the young lady’s voice on
the telephone pleaded. Rick had served as an umpire for the local softball
league, and when the girl’s softball team from NGM High School needed a
coach to be able to participate in the national tournament, they came to
Rick imploring him to help them. Rick was thrilled to have this invitation
because it gave him an opportunity to get to know some of the youth at the
southern high school, and most of our involvement with high school kids
thus far had been with the northern school. Rick took this as a God “setup”
and agreed to meet with them several times a week for two months in
preparation for the tournament. He also committed to be with them at the
tournament in Nassau. To everyone’s thrill and amazement, they won the
national tournament—a first in NGM girl’s softball history! This has
created a very strong bond of friendship with the girls for Rick and
Sandy, and it is opening a real door for ministry to them as well.
