Training School Building Begun!
Maritime Ministries is
expanding on Long Island! The Lord has opened up the way for us to begin
building a training school there. The little house that James Fox donated
to the ministry will grow from a 20 x 20 house to
a
23x60 multipurpose training center. This will happen over the next year
through the help of teams from local churches and donations and help from
Long Islanders themselves.
On January, Reuben left for Long Island to host our first building team for
this project. This building team came from Mechanicsville Christian
Center. It was a team of 10 including Pastor Carter Goolsby and the
missions administrator Nancy Ward. The team constructed a 20 x 23 addition
on the south side of the existing structure.
They also roughed in the
plumbing and formed and poured the floor on the north side.
These new additions will be for separate male and female bunk housing, a
room for the full time MM couple, and a large open area for the classes
and dining area. MCC
is the first of three teams going down in the next three months to
construct this facility. Reuben returned to Virginia with that team on
Jan. 19th. Roy will fly to Long Island on February 8th with a group of 20
from West End Assembly of
God and a couple from Canada to continue on with
the construction of the training center. On February 22nd, Reuben will
return again with a team from Peoria, Illinois. They will be working
on erecting interior walls and beginning the work to the inside of the
structure.
On March 29th, both Roy
and Reuben will fly to Haiti with the church from Salt Pond, Long Island
and West End Assembly of God. construction
on a church/school building in Ibo Beach which is a satellite church of
Pastor Leon DeOrleans' church in Cite Soleil.
