Building Project Needs a Miracle

We have had many miracles surrounding the second phase of the building project at the base in Long Island. We definitely see God’s hand strongly in the work, and we know for certain that it is He who is “building the house”. We were moving along at an incredible pace with the church teams God had sent us, and we were not certain how far the teams would get. By the end of the last team project we had made tremendous progress, but we still had a long way to go and no other resources to keep moving. When God is managing your project, sometimes you find yourself in a lull of activity, and since it is not you putting the plan together you have no way of seeing what the next step is. We have been in just such a lull. What we are discovering is that God gives us a dramatic pause, looks down at us in silence, and watches our reaction. Having learned just a little of the cadence of His marching, we know that now is the time to look up in silence and smile with that knowing smile of “I trust you daddy”, and wait to see what He does next.

Rick, Sandy, and the Bahamian board met to discuss the situation. We know that there are potentially more teams that will be able to come in 2006, but Jimmy and the leadership team felt that we needed to bring the current construction to a close. While there will always be construction needs, we all felt an urgency to return our primary focus back to ministry. Reuben and Debra, with their two kids, are planning to move onto the base in November. It is going to be pretty tight with one 12x12 leadership bedroom and a leadership team of four adults and two babies! We are still in the silence of the pause, but we are starting to see Him move again. Friends of the ministry are saying, “let’s finish this thing”. We are beginning to see God leading people to give financially for the project so that we can hire Bahamian professionals to finish the building by November. This is a daunting task. We determined that the total cost of labor, materials, and fixtures will be around $35,000. However, it is just like God to do something unexpected and bigger than we could have asked for. We believe He is going to finish the building in His grand style and surprise us all with a miracle.
