Rick and Sandy Redd Leave for Long Island
After
many months of preparation, tedious application process, intimidating
interviews, and a challenging fundraising effort, Rick and Sandy Redd were
finally able to leave for the Bahamas on June 5. There was not a dry eye
among the small group of people standing on the tarmac at 0700 on the 5th
at Hanover Airpark as they packed the tiny plane and hugged their son
goodbye. “I don’t know that I could have done what they did,”
commented one of the pilots that took them down. “ They left everything,
and the few things they didn’t sell, give, or throw away are in a corner
of a friend's garage.”
Rick and Sandy will be in charge of the
base’s operations over the summer. It is obvious that God has called
them and is ordering their steps. Rick and Sandy have a lot of experience
ministering to, and with youth. God has orchestrated a summer of divine
appointments with all of the ministries on the island that work with
youth.
Even though the Redds were able to leave for the summer,
their personal support goal of $2,000.00 per month has not yet been fully
met. Ricky and Sandy are returning to the States for a brief period in
October, and we are praying that their financial goals will be met by that
time.
