TEAMS, TEAMS, TEAMS!
From
mid February until now, the Door to the Nations Center (DTNC) has hosted a
steady stream of teams from the States. Reuben and Deb and Rick and Sandy
are seeing just how critical their role of on-the-ground managers of the
facility and coordinators of ministry are. As soon as they were settled
into their housing, they were called upon to begin managing the hosting of
and preparation for mission teams.
These teams were from: Mechanicsville
Christian Center, West End Assembly of God, Oak Grove Baptist, Riverside
Assembly of God from Peoria Ill, and the base also accommodated two teams
from Young Life, Bahamas. God really stretched and grew Reuben as he
worked to lead the effort to coordinate ministry opportunities and
construction logistics for all of the teams.
The teams were working on a project to
build an addition onto the main base building for a washroom and storage
room.
God was with us during an emergency that
arose for one of the teams. A member suffered a heart attack, and God
miraculously preserved his life and helped us deal with the crisis.
Ironically, this dear friend of the ministry was one of the first patients
to ride in the ambulance that MM helped provide for the island.
Oak Grove had a team of high school students with their
youth pastor who visited nearly every school on the island. Pastor Chris
Young from Oak Grove also ministered in a series of special meetings at
Palestine Baptist church in partnership with Pastor James Bain. The
Riverside team followed up during the Easter break with five events for
kids—two in the North, two in the South, and one in the center. These
events were spectacular.
David Harding gave us unrestricted use of the 50
passenger school-bus that we helped provide for his children’s ministry.
We were able to go into the most remote settlements and gather children
who are often neglected. The school bus created a dynamic element of
togetherness between the team members and the local kids as they all
traveled to the activity sites together.
These teams are aiding us tremendously in our work.
Thank you to every team member who gave their time and resources to come
and help us!
