CAPTAIN ROY’S TRAVELS
In
March, Linda and I took a missions team to Long Island, Bahamas. We did
various projects in the parsonage to prepare it for the Redds. We poured
cement for the youth center, and did preparation work for the project for
the family at the south end of the island. The team was delightful and
having my wife with me was a real blessing.
In May I was invited to visit the Chinese Gospel Church
of Dublin, Ireland. I’ve been on their board as a council member for
several years. The Lord has blessed this church with growth and missions
teams going into Europe and China. I spent time with Pastor Cedric Chau,
who is also a Maritime Ministries advisor. From there I flew to
Manchester, England to visit Mike Berkeley, another Maritime Ministry
advisor and the UK Director of OMS International (Oriental Missions
Society). Mike and I worked together in the early 80’s with World
Horizons in the mountains of North Africa. We drove from Manchester to
Swansea, South Wales to see Steve and Lynn Porter, dear friends in
ministry. Steve is the Director of Breakout Adventures. We then went to
Paignton to see Rex and Ross Worth (formerly of Operation Mobilization).
Mike and Rex were the prayer warriors and support the Lord gave me to
start Maritime Ministries. From there we drove to London for a
meeting at a Christian Resources Exhibition before returning to
Manchester.
We traveled over a thousand miles in four days. I felt
like the apostle Philip in Acts 8:26. An angel of the Lord said to Philip,
“Go south to the road - the desert road that goes down from Jerusalem to
Gaza.” Like Philip, I started out not knowing exactly why but I knew I
was to go. I didn’t meet up with an Ethiopian, but the Lord did some
amazing things and His leading was obvious. In the original Maritime
Ministries charter it talks about someday working in and around the
Mediterranean. We know this is all in God’s timing. Please pray with us
about the Lord’s leading and timing in this very important step.
