Roy Armstrong Now Full Time With
MMI/World Horizons
 Roy
Armstrong is now full-time with Maritime Ministries/World Horizons. In the
early eighties, God called Roy Armstrong (President and founder of MMI) to
participate in world missions, which led to an involvement with the
British missions agency known as World Horizons. World Horizons is a
frontier missions agency with an emphasis on the Mediterranean rim and the
Muslim world. This relationship developed into establishing a division of
World Horizons here in the US (Roy became and still is, the President of
World Horizons, USA). Also, Roy and the leadership of World Horizons
discussed the need for a small ship ministry in the Med, and many prayers
were raised to seek God's heart in this matter. Then in 1991 through
a series of amazing divine encounters,
The Lord led Roy to start Maritime Ministries, Inc.
Ironically, almost immediately after this, He also led Roy into a
full-time position as the missions administrator of West End Assemblies of
God. In the natural it seemed as if Maritime Ministries/World
Horizons was being neglected, but God was doing a greater work in Roy
through his time at WEAG than
the natural mind could have foreseen. Now after ten years as a missions administrator, thousands
upon thousands of miles of travel behind him, dozens of successful
projects, innumerable contacts, and countless valuable training
experiences, Roy has been given an invaluable preparation for addressing
the calling which God has placed on his life. That calling is to build a
maritime-type ministry that reaches unreached people groups. As of June 1,
2001, Roy is the full-time president of both World Horizons and Maritime
Ministries, and the prayers and dreams which were birthed twenty years ago
are coming to fruition. Now that Roy is full-time, there is a sense
of completeness. Something which was missing is finally in place.
There is an exciting sense that all of the necessary ingredients are in
place for Maritime Ministries and World Horizons to go to a new level.
